After that, we walked towards the big, old houses and businesses downtown. We went on a pier with huge, swinging benches for people to sit and enjoy the view. We played in a huge fountain in a courtyard. A little farther down the street, we found a marketplace with vendors selling all kinds of handmade jewelry and crafts. There were locals weaving and selling baskets. I found some that I really admired because of the quality, color and design... It was cool to see them making them right there on the spot. After that, we had lunch at a seafood restaurant that served fish from the area waters. I had the most amazing crab balls! They were very lightly fried and inside they were moist and packed with flaky crab meat. Yum!
On our walk back to the car, we took a detour and strolled through a gorgeous, quiet neighborhood. It was so serene! I could hear fountains in the backyards of many homes. There were flowers everywhere! I saw roses, hydrangeas, hybiscus, peonies and many that I can't even name. I can't wait til the spring when the azaleas are in full bloom!
When we got back to Summerville, we visited a few pet stores. We're still trying to find the perfect animal for us. Since we've been looking, we have narrowed down the choices, but we're not quite sure yet. Getting "a Piper" (whatever she is) isn't out of the question in my mind (Chris might say something else, since they're still not on speaking terms).
