Overdue

We were so busy last week and I wasn't able to update...
I just wanted to get a quick update on here so you could see what we're up to.
This weekend was pretty low-key, especially with both of us being sick. We took care of some chores and school stuff this weekend. I also made Chris an apple pie while he was at school preparing his classroom for Palmetto's Finest judging this week. It didn't turn out too bad for my first pie :)

Yes, it is acting up! The pie eating gremlins have also eaten a comment! Hey, I floundered with making my first few pies but I got it down and you will too. There were always pies around. I found it a relaxing change of pace after work or on the weekends. I even thought I'd make a business out of baking pies and cheese cakes at one time! Oh well, nice thought! Your pie looks really great from here. Smells good too! Shows a lot of skill for only your first effort. Experiment with different styles of crimping on the edges. It's fun and can even help you make a deep dish pie for fillings like pumpkin. Getting the right amount of water in the crust is affected by the humidity in the air and also in the flour. Can't use the same amount of water each time because the conditions are different but you must use the correct amount of shortening. Measure carefully each time. Awwww, my little Kathryn is all grown up and a wife and a teacher and now a baker!

Kathryn,

If you can bake black birds in a pie, you can bake green birds in one too! Just a thought! Then I could come and visit you and be happy for ever after. Can't wait for Chris to home home at Christmas time; I have plans! Right now I'm kinda busy entertaining Aunt Diane. Why does everyone laugh at me? Mama bought me a blue aligator to give me practice fighting off aligators. I don't want to have any problems with Crudzu's friend. I love you, slurp, slurp. Did you find that ridiculous felt hat yet?

Piper, you need to do your spelling homework. Alligator has two L's! You didn't spell the bird's name right either. . . it's Kudzu not Crudzu! I think I'm going to leave Webster in the kitchen for you!

Look at my baby sister becoming Mrs. Domestic. Wow! (Don't tell Bill that you've been baking pies... he's going to wonder why the baking gene skipped this sister!)

We miss you guys! love you!
