one month til......

OUR ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY..... and..... Our first day back to school, OF COURSE (ha ha).

Sorry for the lack of updates in this past week, things are picking up around here!

We're so excited about the upcoming weeks... Erin is coming to visit next week and in two weeks, we'll all be driving back up to Michigan. It is going to be so much fun! One of my students from last year is going to take Kudzu to her house while we're up north. Sawyer gets to come with us; let's hope he behaves!

Yesterday we had a faculty retreat at Lake Marion. It was really nice for me to meet some of my co-workers before the school year starts. Our principal gave me a really sweet, welcoming introduction to the faculty. He is such a wonderful man; I am so glad that he's my boss! It was neat to get to see Chris in a different environment, though we did spend most of the day apart.

One other thing that comes to mind is that before we ate lunch, everyone prayed. At first, I didn't think anything of it... Then I started thinking about what a special bunch of people we are around. With all of the issues surrounding prayer in school, it is easy to assume that there is "no prayer in (public) school." This isn't the first time I've seen this happen down here. At various staff luncheons, meetings, pep rallies and other events, prayer is led by administrators, teachers and students. That is definitely a change from any of the public schools I experienced in Michigan- even ultra-conservative Grand Haven. It's a pretty cool thing, if you ask me.

That's it for now....
