I am so excited! Tonight was Parent Night at school and I was able to meet more than half of my students and their parents. I am very happy with the turnout! As family after family poured into my room, I was overwhelmed with a feeling of happiness. I am so happy and thankful that I am back at the middle school level! I loved teaching 8th grade in Grand Haven and I just know that, despite the differences in the schools, Alston is going to be a wonderful teaching environment for me, too.

One cool thing that I haven't been able to experience until now is working with Chris. Despite the fact that we're as geographically (and demographically) far apart as possible, it's nice to drive together and talk about stuff at work. Tonight, a parent and student came into my room. The mom explained to me that I don't teach her daughter, but she "Just wanted to meet me," because her daughter is in Chris' class. That was cute.

Now I have to go get a few more things prepared. Wish us luck for our first day back (with the kids) tomorrow!
